Kindergarten students create mock Northern store

Groceries, signage and cash registers are all important aspects of a well-operating store. Children from the Poplar Hill, ON kindergarten class learned all about this as they decorated their play area in an unique way, with their own mini version of a Northern store.

The children came up with the idea for the mock store themselves. They designed their store with a sign, stocked it with supplies, priced the items and filled a cash register with paper money as they pretended to sell groceries and make transactions.

When the staff at the Poplar Hill Northern store learned of the children’s plan, they provided donations of supplies to help give the mock store a more authentic experience. The children enjoyed expressing their creativity while learning about store operations.
