A strong commitment to staff morale at “his store” has helped earn a member of the Clyde River, NU Northern store special recognition.
Each year, The North West Company recognizes outstanding individuals who demonstrate customer and community values embedded in the company. This year, Alan Cook, the Clyde River Northern store manager was awarded for his leadership and work excellence.
Cook takes ownership of the operations at his store. In fact, he often refers to the Clyde River store as “my store”. His ability to take initiative has led to a decrease in employee turnover, an increase in employee attendance and a higher level of community support.
“He shows true ownership, starting with his hiring of staff,” says Darrin Maidment, Director of Sales and Operations at The North West Company. “He works with individuals to develop them into their roles and cross-trains all employees to enable their growth.”
The North West Company held a ceremony in Winnipeg on January 29 to honour Cook and the many others who have displayed the core values of North West within their work. Watch for more stories about the recipients’ dedication in future issues of The North West eNewsletter.
