Igloolik Northern C-Store Manager Eric Guillemette received the highest possible commendation that can be awarded to a civilian member of an RCMP detachment. Igloolik Detachment Commander Rob Daley presented Guillemette with the award on April 29, for his outstanding service to the community over the span of three years.
Guillemette signed up with the detachment as a civilian member shortly after joining the Igloolik Northern team three years ago, and has been contributing to his community on multiple fronts ever since.
Some of his positions and contributions have included being a volunteer guard to allow the RCMP to take some much-needed rest, being a Search and Rescue volunteer to set out during incidents and, more recently, being part of community recovery efforts following a fire at the Igloolik Co-op in January.
These roles only display the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Guillemette’s commitment to the community. Igloolik Northern manager Ian Wray says his responsibility, passion and work ethic are impressive.
“I would like to congratulate Eric for his commendation and thank him for the hard work and dedication that I see every day. He routinely performs the opening tasks for his store, even on his days off when he knows that he is not expected to do so, among many other tasks outside of his job title. He is a valuable member of the Igloolik Northern team and we are all proud of him,” Wray says.
