Shamattawa First Nation is a remote community in northern Manitoba, located on the banks of the Gods River where the Echoing River joins as a right tributary.
Shamattawa has a population of 1,019 residents (per 2016 Census, Statistics Canada) and is about 744 km away from Winnipeg, accessible by plane via the Shamattawa Airport and by winter road during the winter.

“I really appreciate the welcoming atmosphere by Chief and Council and the community of Shamattawa as a whole. During the COVID-19 outbreak our entire team banded together not only to deliver food hampers but to ensure the community had access to food – no small feat in the middle of a crisis. It really goes to show that when we all work together, we all win,” shared Dicht.
