A challenging year did not keep our Northern and NorthMart store teams from once again happily accepting the challenge of raising funds for the Healthy Horizons Foundation during the holidays. In fact, they raised nearly double their goal amount.
Every year, Northern and NorthMart store staff support the Healthy Horizons Foundation to carry out the Holiday Star Icon Campaign to raise funds for the children and youth in the communities The North West Company Inc. serves.
The campaign was held for six weeks with stunning results from the start. Each store team did an amazing job and used their creativity to be able to raise funds, achieving a grand total of $291,887 and surpassing the initial goal by almost twice the amount.
The Northern store in Rossville, MB stood out during the campaign. In their fundraising efforts, the store began holding daily raffles for almost a month which became quite popular, allowing them to hold two or three draws a day, with winners chosen randomly by number draw. More than 40 large prizes were raffled, bringing in an incredible $61,305 to support the foundation.
“The result is a demonstration of commitment, dedication and teamwork in raising funds for the youth in our communities. Most of this success is due to the support we’ve received from our customers who, despite the challenges this pandemic has brought, have joined this noble cause,” said Jason Winter, Northern Store Manager in Rossville, MB.

The Healthy Horizons Foundation is extremely grateful to the Northern and NorthMart customers for their generosity, and to the staff in each store for all the efforts that made the Holiday Star Icon Campaign a tremendous success.
