Berens River is located about 270 kilometers north of Winnipeg along the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, and is accessible by air, boat and winter road. The First Nation community has an on-reserve population of 2,220 and an off-reserve population of 1,326 (as per 2019 Indigenous Services Canada data). Languages spoken within the community include Ojibway and English.

The community’s Northern Store Manager, William Doherty, and his team are strong and dedicated community supporters.
“The team at Berens River works very closely with the Frontier School Division to support their breakfast and lunch program,” said Doherty. “We’ve also taken part in the Diabetes Run and have received recognition from the councillors and community.”
