Healthcare heroes in Shamattawa First Nation were gifted a token of appreciation by the community’s Chief, Council and Northern store, on November 24.
The northern Manitoba community of Shamattawa First Nation has been dealing with a large COVID-19 outbreak in recent weeks. Healthcare staff have been going above and beyond the call of duty to treat patients and help curb the spread of the virus.
In recognition of their efforts, Shamattawa's Chief and Council joined forces with the Northern store to extend a token of appreciation to the healthcare workers. Together, they provided a delicious and nutritious lunch of sandwiches, fruit and more for the staff of the Shamattawa Nursing Station.
Shamattawa Northern Store Manager Stephen Braun was happy to work with the Chief and Council to support the Nursing Station.
“The Nursing Station staff have been dealing with the outbreak here and so we provided them with lunch, a break from their routine and a show of appreciation for the work they have been doing,” said Braun.
