Families in Moosonee, ON, will be well taken care of this holiday season, thanks to turkey hampers provided to them.
The Timmins Native Friendship Centre – Moosonee Chapter joined forces with the Moosonee Northern store to prepare and deliver hampers to 100 families in late November, containing healthy and nutritious foods such as potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, milk and turkeys.
The Friendship Centre is comprised of a group of dedicated individuals who work to provide a safe gathering place for people in Indigenous communities. It offers programs that support the cultural heritage, and assist with inclusion and participation, of Indigenous people in urban life.
Moosonee Northern Store Manager Norman Huffman was happy to take part in this initiative to support local families.
“With this donation, we wanted to ensure that local families receiving the hampers had a proper family dinner. The team at the Friendship Centre have been valuable partners in helping us serve the people of Moosonee,” said Huffman.
