Deer Lake First Nation is located in Northern Ontario, north of Red Lake and within the boundaries of the territory described by the Winnipeg Treaty of 1875, Treaty No. 5. The Oji-Cree community is accessible via the Deer Lake Airport year round and a seasonal winter road. The community’s 867 residents (as per 2016 Census Canada data) speak Ojibway, Oji-Cree and English.

1. Employment: We are one of the most prominent employers in Deer Lake, with our Northern store employing 17 individuals. Our commitment to local talent is demonstrated through our workforce consisting of 94% Indigenous employees.*
2. Capital Investment: Northern has made a $940,990 capital investment in the Deer Lake store over a 10-year period.*
3. Annual Economic Impact: Northern is making a positive impact in Deer Lake, with $994,577 annual economic impact in the community.*
