Children and their families were treated to a full pumpkin patch experience like no other in Sitka.
The 3 to 5 Preschool in Sitka, Alaska, in collaboration with Alaska Commercial Company’s (ACC) Lakeside store, hosted the annual fall fundraiser on October 17.
With the help of 40 Alaska State Trooper Cadets, AC Lakeside store staff transformed their parking lot into something magical – a pumpkin patch! The patch, created using pumpkins, leaves and hay, plus fall-themed backdrops and props, made for a perfect, family friendly fall photoshoot opportunity.
The event also featured a delicious BBQ. Families helped themselves to hot dogs, hamburgers, salmon chowder, nachos, drinks and coffee. The AC Lakeside store was happy to have sponsored the fundraiser by hosting the pumpkin patch in the store’s parking lot and providing tasty food. AC Lakeside Branch Manager, Vince Winter, appreciated the opportunity for the store to serve the community.
“Engaging in our community via events and meetings affords us the opportunity to become active members of this community, and that has a lasting, positive impact on our society and everyday life,” said Winter. “Especially during these COVID times our community has been focused on which business owners are tuned into the community’s needs, and in turn they support those that have a pure investment in them.”
By the end of the day, a total of $3,625 was raised for 3 to 5 Preschool. Marcia Hirai, 3 to 5 Preschool’s Director, was grateful for a successful event.

“3 to 5 Preschool can’t thank you enough for the commitment and dedication you have in supporting and sponsoring our Preschool’s Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser,” said Hirai. “You truly made this event happen from the pumpkins, to the food, and all the behind the scenes work that needed to be planned ahead of time.”
