Poplar River First Nation is located about 400 kilometers north of Winnipeg, on the east side of Lake Winnipeg. The community, accessible by winter road and air, has a population of 1,941 as per 2019 Indigenous Services Canada data. Languages spoken in the community include Ojibway and English.

1. Employment: We are one of the most prominent employers in Poplar River, with our Northern store employing 18 individuals. Our commitment to local talent is demonstrated through our workforce consisting of 86% Indigenous employees.*  

2. Capital Investment: Northern has made an $816,966 capital investment in the Poplar River store over a 10-year period.*

3. Annual Economic Impact: Northern is making a positive impact in Poplar River, with $655,695 annual economic impact in the community.*
