Local creators and small business owners positively contributed to the community of Pinawa, MB, by selling affordable, stylish handmade face masks to residents.
Louise Daymond from Leaveit2Lou and Josephine Hall-Dawson from Red Cabin Sewing were invited by Lisa Thomas, Store Manager of the Pinawa Solo Market, to sell the masks within the comfort of the store in August.
The face masks were so well received by customers and community members that both Daymond and Hall-Dawson were sold out by noon on the first day! The entrepreneurs returned to host two local pop-up stores outside the Solo Market in order to continue with face mask sales.
Daymond and Hall-Dawson were not only very motivated to serve the community, but also felt comfortable and safe because their setup was equipped with plenty of physical distancing and sanitizing measures.
“I can't stress enough how important Lisa is to our community, not now but always. The way she has handled the pandemic since day one is just so amazing. She is always the first one to support local endeavours and lend a hand,” said Daymond.
Local talent collaborating on improving the community’s well-being was definitely a pleasant sight during these uncertain times.
