Members of the Togiak Natives Limited Board were extremely pleased to receive the Alaska Commercial Company’s donation and support.
The Alaska Commercial Company has been playing a proactive role in the community, by providing residents with resources to help them develop and succeed as individuals.
Alaska Commercial Company Branch Manager Jacque Malaney presented $5,000 donation to Togiak Natives Limited (TNL) on behalf of The North West Company on June 10. TNL is a local village corporation operating for the economic welfare of the residents and the community.
The donation will be used by TNL’s Togiak Village Scholarship Committee to help high school graduates further their education with college or vocational training.
Applicants each submit an essay describing why they believe they are a worthy candidate. The applications are then evaluated by the TNL Board members, who choose the winner/recipient of the scholarship based on their merits.
“With your contribution, we will continue to help fund our local shareholders in furthering their education. Thank you again for your time and help in supporting our scholarship fund,” shared Germaine Eningowu, TNL Office Manager.
Programs like these help the community use their resources towards the development of blossoming local talent, helping enhance the community itself.
