The Northern store in Stanley Mission, SK has been showing their appreciation for the community’s frontline healthcare workers and staff by assuring them that they stand beside them and value all of their efforts during the the ongoing pandemic

Earlier this month, the store was approached by Registered Nurse Janet Mckenzie from the community’s Elders Haven, who wished to purchase an iPad for residents to stay in touch with their families and friends while quarantined.

“When I was told what they wanted it for, and that the Elders were in tears because they could not see their grandchildren, I knew we had to donate one,” said Stanley Mission Store Manager Patrick Young.

Mckenzie was ecstatic about receiving the iPad. The Northern store was also extremely pleased knowing how they were able to help the community of Stanley Mission through this small donation.

In addition to the emotional support made possible with the new iPad, Mckenzie is already planning additional ways the iPad could be used to help the Elders maintain a healthier and more active lifestyle. These options will include a variety of digital brain-games that will help to keep their minds active.

“Stanley Mission is my home. I have been here since 1998, and to see my friends grow in the community, and seeing people helping out others could not make me happier. With the world uncertain right now, at least we can be certain that there are wonderful people out there helping others while putting their health in jeopardy,” shared a grateful Young.
