A fun festival that has become a tradition for Lynn Lakers is now growing to accommodate visitors from neighboring communities as well.
The three-day Winter Carnival in Lynn Lake, MB is the perfect event for both community and family bonding. The 2020 carnival – organized by the Lynn Lake Chamber of Commerce and other partners – attracted about 300 athletes, volunteers and participants from other Manitoba communities like Thompson, Grand Rapids, Southend, SK and more to Lynn Lake. There was something special for every age group to enjoy –activities included movie night, a pancake fundraiser, a beauty contest and even sport competitions.
With recent recreation development in the community, Lynn Lake now has access to a gymnasium, seasonal indoor rink and fitness centre – some of which were used to host the carnival. This support from the Town of Lynn Lake brings hope that the event can expand in the near future, boosting the town’s local economy.
“These indoor facilities play a crucial role in allowing Lynn Lakers to continue to maintain their physical health and give an opportunity to the young children and adults to become involved in sports,” shared Eugene Shin, President of the Lynn Lake Chamber of Commerce. “The Lynn Lake Winter Carnival is truly a combined effort of various local organizations in Lynn Lake such as the Northern Store. We are very grateful for the store’s donation, which was fully utilized.”
The community of Lynn Lake is thankful for the support of sponsors and visitors alike who helped promote this event, and will carry on the legacy of Lynn Lake and continue to make it a wonderful place to live, Shin added.
