The North West Company has been a proud partner of United Way Winnipeg for over 20 years, and in 2019 helped the organization reach its biggest fundraising goal ever.
United Way Winnipeg is a nonprofit organization that provides critical, front-line support that thousands of Winnipeggers rely on when they need help. For more than 50 years, the organization has invested in local programs that help to ensure the basic needs of community members of all ages and backgrounds – allowing them to live better and dream bigger.
In 2019, the United Way Winnipeg Campaign raised a total of $21,600,000, concluding a successful three-year strategic plan.
The North West Company contributed $454,492.01 to the campaign, taking part in charitable events such as Day of Caring, Koats For Kids and the Plane Pull, plus participating in Denim Day – a corporate initiative that allows staff to wear jeans to the workplace on Fridays in exchange for a small donation towards United Way Winnipeg.

Vice President Legal and Corporate Secretary Amanda Sutton proudly accepted the “Ambassador Team Award” on behalf of all staff members, which was presented during the United Way 2019 Celebration on January 16. This recognition highlights The North West Company’s commitment to the campaign with growing employee participation and increasing donation.
“The North West Company is extremely engaged with various activities within United Way,” says United Way Winnipeg Coordinator Deanna West. “Two North West employees are on our Speakers Bureau, going out to different workplaces and telling them their stories and how United Way may have helped them or a family member through one of our agency partners.”
The North West Company is privileged to be a friend of United Way and Winnpeggers, contributing to the journey of creating a better Winnipeg together moving forward.
