Indigenous youth gathered in Winnipeg in April to work together, build confidence and explore their own talents at the 2019 N’we Jinan Festival and Youth Conference, thanks to the support of The North West Company.
At North West, we believe that youth can develop diverse skill sets and we fully support helping foster their talents. By sponsoring N’we Jinan, which was held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on April 18, we are helping develop future leaders in our communities.
N’we Jinan is a Canadian record label designed to help amplify the voices of Indigenous youth and give them the tools they need for life-changing creative communication. The program was created to offer a dynamic approach to music education and art for indigenous youth.
N’we Jinan teaches youth about performing, song writing, music production, sound recording, and art. The initiative creates original songs that contain cultural messages embedded within the lyrics. North West is proud to give Indigenous youth the opportunity and encouragement to collaborate, work as a team, empower communities, and build confidence.
David Hodges, Executive Director at N’we Jinan thanked North West for our sponsorship of the 2019 conference by saying “Thanks again for your support – we really appreciated it and we hope that we can collaborate again in the future!”
