Children and families in Pinawa, MB will have a new, natural place to play thanks to a Greener Tomorrow grant of $5,833.25.
The grant was given out to the Pinawa Foundation, which was formed 10 years ago to support the community. The charitable foundation collects donations primarily from corporations or estates, then distributes the funds back to worthy groups in Pinawa.
The Greener Tomorrow grant will be used to support a natural park near F.W. Gilbert Elementary School. This natural park will have quite a significant impact on the community, as it will be enjoyed by not only the school’s students, but by families in the community as well.
The residents of Pinawa understand the importance of recycling and the appreciation for nature. Their local store, Solo Market, participates in the Greener Tomorrow program by encouraging shoppers to shop with reusable bags, or purchase plastic bags. The money from bag sales goes into the Greener Tomorrow fund to support community programs.
“This program aligns Solo Market as a member of the community, and residents recognize it for our effort,” said store manager Lisa Thomas.
