Dozens of bears in Churchill will be looking great on the ice this season.
Make that the Bears – a local men’s hockey team that is thrilled with the donation of two full sets of brand new jerseys, thanks to The North West Company and the Churchill Northern store.
The Churchill Bears are part of the Churchill Men’s Recreational Hockey League, an annual community league. All of the Churchill Bears players were extremely thankful for the donation and the men very excited to play in the league with their new sets of jerseys, said Justin Calderon, Churchill Men’s Recreational Hockey League organizer.
“It is great to have a business support a yearly community league that has transient and local men playing. The jerseys will be in use for years to come and will provide new and old members with the jerseys, who would have otherwise not had one to be able to play,” said Calderon.
“The jerseys brought smiles to all the men who have not had team jerseys for many years, while the turnout for the league has increased," he added.
