Ulukhaktok’s Northern teamed up with the community to spread holiday cheer in December, hosting a special feast for local elders.
The team worked with local businesses, the local school, and RCMP officers to host a full Christmas dinner for about 70 guests, who were presented with a table of six turkeys, six hams, stuffing, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, cake, and much more.
“The community was very touched and pleased that we took our time to put this feast on for the elders and that we took the time to show our appreciation for them,” said store manager Jessica McConkey. “The joy and happiness on the elders’ faces was very touching to see, and the gratitude and kindness that they continue to show surprises me daily.”
There was music, guests sang Christmas carols, and everyone enjoyed each other’s company.
