Children in Wabasca, AB will have a brighter Christmas this year, with gifts under the tree donated by generous community members.
The Bigstone Fire Department of Wabasca held their annual Toy Drive in late November, and with the help of the local Northern store, was able to hit a record number of donations.
The event held for the community served hot dogs, smokies, and hot chocolate. There were also prize draws, and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa.
The fire department expressed their gratitude on their Facebook page: “Thanks to Rob McKinley and Northern stores for your generous donation,” wrote David Zabot.
The Toy Drive was a huge success, surpassing last year’s total by bringing in over 250 toys. The event collects gifts and toys for Santas Anonymous. Northern’s donation of toys will be supporting the charity’s mission of bettering the lives of children, and delivering Christmas spirit to less fortunate families.
